A retired criminal investigator lives a quiet life in his Jūrmala home, observing the modern world and drifting into memories of cases that still haunt him. Meanwhile, recidivist Kims Ponopoliss — once registered but never caught — resurfaces in police files as a potential suspect in a growing number of child disappearances.
With the investigation stalled and leads running cold, the police chief decides to unofficially enlist his old colleague, unaware of the dark path this decision will set in motion.
