In 2021, following an initiative by the then President of Latvia, Egils Levits, experts developed the Law on Latvian Historical regions along with accompanying cartographic materials that clarified the boundaries of Latvia\u2019s cultural and historical regions, which had previously been the subject of frequent debate. This wall map depicts the historical lands, as well as Latvia\u2019s administrative division, major settlements, and other important information. The map is supplemented by two smaller maps showing the historical situation in the 12th and 17th centuries, which largely influenced the later boundaries of the historical regions.<\/p>\n
