Aprašymas

Photographer and cultural heritage researcher Vitolds Mašnovskis has carried out documentary photographic documentation and research on approximately 1,200 manor complexes across Latvia. The multi-volume encyclopedia “Manors in Latvia” was created as a tribute to the centenary of Latvia, and accordingly, the first volume was published in a tangible form during this significant anniversary year.

The fourth volume of the encyclopedia contains descriptions of 123 manors, arranged alphabetically from the letter N to Š. This 400-page volume features bilingual image captions, making it accessible also to German-speaking readers.

Compared to the previous volumes, this fourth installment more extensively reveals the success stories of many manors, as numerous estates have now been well cared for, restored, renovated, and maintained. The “Manors in Latvia” encyclopedia offers readers a deeper insight into the course of events and their consequences in Latvian history. It also serves as a monument to enduring human energy – a testament to the desire to change and to create change, standing as an independent witness that reflects both who we are and the processes taking place within society.
