Description
The guide was published 10 years ago, yet it remains relevant and valuable. It brings together the 9 most beautiful nature trails in Latgale. This kind of compilation was created for the first time, in cooperation with nature trail enthusiasts and experts from the portal dodies.lv. When selecting the trails, several criteria were taken into account: scenic and informational value, geographical distribution, quality of available infrastructure, and others. The publication was produced in cooperation with company “Latvijas valsts meži”.
Each trail is accompanied by an informative description, a detailed map, images, and essential information: trail length, estimated hiking time, surface type, difficulty level, the presence of trail markings in nature, availability of rest and campfire sites, and suitability for bicycles, children’s strollers, or wheelchairs.
For cyclists, the maps include officially marked cycling routes with numbering. In nature, these routes can be recognized by a blue sign featuring a white bicycle symbol and the route number.
The guide is based on a detailed map of the entire territory of Latvia at a scale of 1:100,000 (1 cm on the map = 1 km in nature), and each page is laminated.
The key advantage of the publication is its functionality in real outdoor conditions – on the road, on water, or in the forest. Unlike digital navigation devices, smartphones, or tablets, these maps are clearer, more detailed, and usable in any conditions – regardless of battery life or internet availability.
