Description
The Latvian Ornithological Society has published a book titled “Breeding Bird Atlases of Latvia 1980–2017: Population Size, Distribution and Changes”. This 512-page publication compiles information on more than 220 breeding bird species found in Latvia, their population sizes, distribution, and changes over time. It is considered one of the most comprehensive and informative ornithological works published in Latvia in recent decades.
The authors of the book are Viesturs Ķerus, Andris Dekants, Ainārs Auniņš, and Ieva Mārdega, but the data presented is based on observations collected over many years by several hundred members of the Latvian Ornithological Society and other bird experts. Each species profile is illustrated with photographs of the bird itself and its typical breeding habitat, generously contributed by more than 40 photographers.
